Winston Churchill described a fanatic as someone “Who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.” The Trig Truthers, to WC’s sorrow, are falling into Churchill’s definition.
For example, while WC deeply appreciates Gryphen’s otherwise fine work over at Immoral Minority, he is showing unmistakeable signs of fanaticism, as Churchill defined it. If there was any doubt about who Trig’s mother is, it would seem to be resolved. See, for example, Salon’s Trig Trutherism: The definitive debunker. At this point the purtative conspiracy simply involves too many people, some of them – Sam Bishop, for example – very smart people.
Occam’s Razor applies: that razor has sliced to ribbons claims Palin wasn’t preggers.
In this case, the truth doesn’t make a very flattering portrait of Palin. The Quitter is a woman willing to sacrifice her health and her unborn child’s health by getting on a long jet ride while in labor. She’s a woman who will risk inconveniencing all of her fellow passengers by an emergency landing. This is a woman who will drive by the biggest, most sophisticated hospital in Alaska while in labor to get to a more remote, less sophisticated hospital in Wasilla. It’s execrable judgment no matter how you look at it, and in more than one case. And it’s still more evidence of her incredible narcissism.
And once you recognize that narcissism, that appalling need for attention, then Palin’s refusal to produce Trig’s birth certificate even makes a sick kind of sense. By keeping even a tiny bit of the “controversy” roiling, the TTWF serves her narcissism. Caribou Cathy’s narcissistic needs are so great that even negative attention fills the need.
The truth about Palin’s conduct in the hours before Trigs’ birth is so awful, so appalling, as to make her utterly unsuitable for any elected office, let alone the Presidency of the U.S. Ironically, clinging to a debunked theory of paternity undermines the Trig Truther’s overall credibility.
And that serves The Quitter, not the truth.

This was in no small part the instigation behind my flushing away both links to and purging my Google Reader of most other Alaskan blogs.
Case in point being during the redistricting process the majority of supposedly “progressive” Alaskan blogs were/are consumed with the liberal version of a birther conspiracy. And in the meantime, the electoral lines are literally being redrawn around them. So there should be no surprise as to exactly how and why all the Wilsons, Millers, Murkowskis and Quitters et al keep getting (re)elected in the first place: like ravens down at a political transfer site we’re distracted by all the cheap shit.

The problem with the Wild Ride (I am a wild rider not a pregger hoaxer) is that the media did not investigate Palin’s claims about that either. They gave her a free Wild Ride. When they go back and deal with that the way investigative journalists are supposed to, I will drop this issue. Until then, it is only the trig truthers keeping the story alive.

Sorry, WC, but nothing has been debunked here. A bump observed under clothing is not proof of pregnancy. Just ask that high schooler who recently pulled a pregnancy hoax on her teachers, classmates, best friends and close family members in order to use the experience of teen pregnancy as the basis for her senior project. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703387904576279092411174586.html
I’m disappointed in you for not doing your usual, thorough homework. I don’t know what the real story is, but a birth certificate and public statement by the MatSu hospital should clear things up once and for all. Until then…the jury is out.

WC recognized this post would be controversial, but everyone please keep your wits and your civility about you. Comments with obscenities, speculation on WC’s paternity or his late mother’s habits will be deleted. Really bad ad hominem fallacies will be held up to public ridicule.

If we’re to use Occam’s Razor as the measure of truth, one could argue that on the one hand we’re asked to believe that a 40+ year old woman who had already experienced two miscarriages and four live births, who in no manner shape or form displayed any behaviour of having a seventh pregnancy prior to announcing said pregnancy one month before delivery, is asking us to believe she went from having a completely flat belly to needing 9-month maternity clothing in less than 14 days, cancelled her normal security guard to take a several thousand mile trip where she woke up so terrified her baby was in jeopardy she then woke her husband to share her fear and tell him she thought her water had broken, then refused to let him call a doctor, cancel her speech or take her to a hospital only nine minutes away, then gave said speech some ten hours later in a jovial manner while wearing high heels and a short dress, then boarded two airplanes where n.o.t .o.n.e.p.e.r.s.o.n in ten hours, two airports and two passenger planes noticed she was pregnant (much less in labour) to travel past one modern hospital after another on her way back to a semi-isolated area to give birth to a 5-week premature baby already known to have Downs syndrome and a hole in his heart, to have the newborn baby shown to a news crew in a hospital corridor by its grandparents (where was daddy Todd?) and not one hospital staffer was there to describe to the cameras how remarkably brave Mrs. Palin was throughout her labour and that mother and baby were doing fine…
…while on the other hand some of us are merely saying “Sarah Palin is a chronological liar. Of course she faked it. She fakes everything.”
If the premise of Occam’s Razor is to find truth in the simplest set of theorems, the simplest one of all is ‘she faked it’ because asking the public to find truth in her accounting of a Trig pregnancy requires the abandonment of most thought processes sane and reasonable.
Jesse Griffin is taking the heat for what most of us out here believe and that is Sarah Palin’s story of Trig’s pregnancy and birth is so outrageously unreasonable it can’t be anything but false. And whether we’re all right or we’re all wrong, we are entitled as voters to a comprehensive, believable accounting by the qualified people who tended to Sarah’s pre-natal care and subsequent delivery, not the myriad of spoon-fed, disconnected, contradictory statements Ms. Palin proffers as the truth.
I mean no disrespect WC but I said this months ago and it still stands – Jesse Griffin is taking the heat for what most of us out here already believe and I for one have his back.

WC can’t seem to push his position through the fog: The TTWF is hurt as badly by what she admits to as what she denies. And because she thrives on attention, even negative attention, she’s going to keep the controversy alive by refusing to produce a birth certificate. The Quitter’s narcissism explains matters to WC’s satisfaction. YMMV.

WC, I am a recent regular visitor who enjoys your intelligent and informed posts and excellent bird photography. In this matter, however, I am with ozmud. Obama Birthers are fanatics. The definitive proof of Obama’s citizenship has been presented and verified. Trig Truthers are not fanatics. No such definitive proof has been offered to debunk the Trig Truther hoax scenario. Why did Sarah lie about presenting Trig’s birth certificate? How do we account for the ‘not pregnant one week, but very much pregnant the next’ photos? I could go on and on. The wild ride story Sarah has presented is fantastical. There is not enough space here to go through what is wrong with it. But, if it turns out it really happened, it is a scathing indictment of Sarah Palin’s judgment. It also raises serious question about the airline. What type of training do the attendants receive if they did not notice that a women is 8 months pregnant? And why did Sarah not reveal her pregnancy? She must have Herculean abs of steel, I guess she just sucked it all in. Why did she recklessly disregard the safety of everyone else? Why did she bypass hospitals equipped and staffed for a DS delivery and instead drive for several hours to a small regional hospital that is not equipped, after 10 hours on a plane when her water was already leaking? Questions, questions, questions…

Do enjoy reading your posts, however I have to adamantly disagree with you on this. Its too bad everyone in this country gets a label, i.e., “trig truthers”, “obamacare”, “leftists”, “rightists”, ad infinitum ad nauseum. It wouldn’t matter WHO said what but just give the FACTS. Sarah Palin has many faces and many in the public still do not “know” any of her faces because she is simply a very pathological liar. I am sure she believes her own lies and therefore makes it easier for all of those lies to slip off her tongue effortlessly. However, she has been outed on very many of those lies. Enough so that we are able to judge the truths from those many lies; especially those of us who are Alaskans. The word conspiracy doesn’t bother me either because the dictionary explains the word very clear and thus every single human being “conspires” every day on all things everywhere. Its when it harms other human beings that it becomes a dangerous thing, especially and pointedly if it is hidden or covert. For those of us who believe Palin did not have little Trig, the act of showing a genuine birth certificate (whether he was birthed by her or someone else) would pretty much settle the matter. She hasn’t. She has the loyalty of some pretty fanatical people – even people who might be considered sane and rational – I am sure whoever those people are, could/would/have keep/kept secrets. A plot is a plot is a plot and if the rewards are strong enough, the secrets will be kept. Like I said it happens all the time everywhere. With the famous and infamous and those jillions of other nameless people.
Her whole persona and world is one of covering over something – from the small to the large. That “Wild Ride” story is incredibly outrageous. Blatantly untrue. I’m a woman and a mother. It simply didn’t happen and was a lie of unbound proportion. It reminded me of a child caught in a lie – “well, uh, umm, and then, well, this happened, and then that happened, and uh…” You get the picture. I think she learned that lying modus operandi from childhood and the deceitfulness she learned right in her family. When she discovered how easy it was to fool most anyone, it became habituated due to the kind of person she is – narcissistic sociopath. She’s clever…if you aren’t really paying CLOSE attention. The rest of that sociopathic package is her flakey, phony charm. Easily turned off and on. Her biggest mistake is her true belief that most people don’t really pay attention nor care about DETAILS. There would be no “trig truther’s” if that were the case. I’m hoping for her big KARMIC kick in the rear. Right now for all her lies, bullying, threatening, out and out revenges, false persona, and dirty pursuit of the highest of offices, she deserves her black karma. I feel so sorry for the little Trig. Here’s to courage to out her and to her public downfall. Let’s get to the real details: ALL THE FACTS HIDDEN FROM ALL by one sarah palin and her “team” of conspirator’s/liars/pretender’s/ – whatever you want to call them. She didn’t pull this off on her own ya know. Therefore, “conspiracy” is a perfectly fitting dictionary noun from those who believe she perpetrated the pregnancy scheme/hoax. Of course Todd was in on it, so that makes it a conspiracy by dictionary definition already. Lawful or unlawful. In her case, we can add fraud, fraudulent, hoax, plot, scheme, plan, etc. Much to her arrogant yet dumb supposition, someone IS paying attention to details. Another case in point: in the meantime, an Alaskan Senator and Congressman will speak at an event (“Fed Up With The Feds”) in Fairbanks tomorrow evening, where Compeau and Seekins will award ammunition and replica Gestapo badges for prizes.

BTW & one last comment: There are so many ways she could keep her attention whore needs met and she has done that – reality t.v. show, speaking gigs, celebrity status, ghost written books – her “narcissim” doesn’t need a “hoax” to meet her constant attention needs. For one thing, she says she already showed the nation Trig’s birth certificate – of course that was a lie, but how many paid attention and bowed down to her answer? All the mainstream media, her fanatic followers and others who took her at her charming word. Yes, she is with holding her decision on running for president, but those reasons do not have so much to do with getting “narcissistic” attention as it has to do with making more money of which her greed is another major flaw of character. AND she gets the attention – “WINNING”! as Charlie Sheen would say. You may be partially correct WC, but in the end, I believe she realizes if she produced Trig’s real and genuine birth certificate, she has enough sense to realize her 15 minutes of fame are toast – with the people that matter. She knows she’s got the low hanging fruit in her pocket already. We won’t be hearing the end of sarah palin for awhile its true but I am going to be interested in what it is that finally unhinges her. No matter what. She’s hurt and threatened so many people by her toxic and totally undeserved power. The best justice would be for her to be brought down by her own lies. We’ll see…
