Road Tales, Part 1


WC is on the road, en route from Fairbanks, Alaska to Boise, Idaho. Here are a few shots from the road.

Incredibly, the border itself is still cleared. Any terrorist willing to brave the swamps, bogs, muskeg and mosquitoes of the upper Tanana Basin while crossing from Canada to Alaska will also be faced with the challenge of crossing the 15 foot wide strip of treeless taiga.

You have to wonder about the resources required. Couldn’t they be better used than window-dressing.

WC is presently in Stewart, Alaska, admittedly not in a direct line from Fairbanks to Boise, but the Bear River Canyon, down from the Cassiar to the head of Portland Canal is pretty impressive. And every Alaska should visit Hyder, if only to say they have. More recent photos soon.
