As long-time readers of Wickersham’s Conscience know, WC is a big fan of infographics that cleanly and accurately display information in a useful way. WC commends Bill Marsh of the New York Times for this excellent visual display of Politifact’s fact-checking on some of the leading presidential candidates. Angie Drobnic Holan’s article provides the details, but it is almost superfluous to the excellent graphic.
The visual display of information is an art and a science. If you’re interested in the subject, check out Edward R. Tufte’sThe Visual Display of Quantitative Information and Envisioning Information, and WC’s personal favorite infographic ever, Charles Joseph Minard’s astonishing Napoleon’s March to Moscow, the War of 1812.
