Yardbirds: May 2017

WC has had some fun birds in the backyard this month. And even was able to photograph a few. The photos are all taken through windows, and as a result aren’t really very good. But they are adequate to document what’s been around.

In more than 20 years of birding in Alaska, WC found just 23 species in his yard. After less than two years in Boise, the count is up to 41. Many of them a lot more colorful than Alaska’s, too.

WC is often asked why he moved from Alaska. There were lots of reasons. But a bird photographer needs birds and light to practice his or her craft. So far, that’s paid off nicely.
